Inspired Aging provides enrichment, social services and fitness experiences for adults 60 and better. This integrated wellness model provides opportunities to live your best life, today.

JOIN OUR PROGRAMS

Adult Programs serves our 60 and better constituents. We focus on providing social, spiritual, cultural, and wellness offerings for adults ages 60 and over. Our goal is to help folks live their most fulfilling 3rd act. Adult Programs works closely with JFS, Health and Wellness, and all areas of Shalom Austin to provide integrated and robust offerings. News & Schmooze

Every Other Monday | 1 PM

Join in on the conversation. Come discuss local, national, and international news and keep up with what’s happening. Participants are welcome to bring in newspaper articles or research a topic of interest to share with the group.

Game Time

Mondays  |  1PM

Whether it be Mahjongg, Mexican Train or Rummikub, we welcome beginners and experts in a variety of games, and love to learn new ones! Come spend a few hours with us and you’ll l always leave feeling like a winner! We’ll bring the games, you’ll bring the fun. RSVP required.

Simcha Readers Theater

TUESDAYS | 1 PM

Learn the art of dramatic storytelling. Whether childhood stories, tales from your grandparents, fictional imaginations, folktales or tall tales. Learn how to organize and tell a story verbally and in writing, connect with your audience, and bring your story to life. Class led by Sue Bilich.

Great coffee, even better conversation. Please come join us each Wednesday morning for Community & Coffee, a new social group where we talk about anything and everything! Bring a friend, bring a neighbor or just bring yourself! 

A Critical Reading
of The New York Times

EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY | 1 PM

This is an informal and fun conversation about the New York Times where you will look over the shoulders of various reporters, columnists and opinion writers at one of the world’s best newspapers. Join the team watching the paper that has gone digital to become a tough-talking, inclusive citizen of the world. Led by Abby Kenigsberg. (Subscription not required).

Flex Your Brain

Thursdays | 10 AM

Join us for this fun and fast-paced hour-long class. This class is meant to keep your brain strong and flexible with individual and group games and challenges. Gameplay can serve a critical role in maintaining and even improving brain power in older adults.

1st & 3rd Friday | 10 AM

Give back to our community by volunteering your time and talent at the J! If you knit or crochet, or want to learn how, this is the place to be! Projects vary each season and blankets, stuffed animals, hats and scarves are given to those who are less fortunate.

Shabbat Cafe

 Fridays (Monthly) | 10 AM

Join us as we celebrate an early Shabbat together each month. We will provide Challah, Wine (Grape Juice), and kesher kehilah (community togetherness). Occurs on the 2nd Friday most months. Meets in the Linda & Keith Zimmerman Family Multi-Purpose Rooms.

Join us once a month on a Wednesday for an intellectual conversation led by Rabbi Freedman, Rabbi Emeritus Temple Beth Shalom. We’ll discuss a wide range of interesting topics as requested by your peers. Open to all men 60+. Bring your own lunch and we will provide refreshments and sweet treats.

 1st and 3rd Tuesdays Monthly | 10:00 AM

Memory Café is a welcoming & supportive space for individuals living with early-stage memory loss. In partnership with AGE of Central Texas, the program offers cognitively stimulating activities, support group discussions, and tools to help navigate daily life- all designed to foster connection and purpose.

The Memory Cafe is designed for older adults living with early-stage changes in thinking or memory, such as Mild Cognitive Impairment or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. It is important that participants are aware of and willing to speak about their diagnosis or cognitive changes.

Chair Yoga

Low Impact: Gentle chair yoga is a form of yoga that focuses on gentle stretches, mindful breathing, and relaxation techniques to improve flexibility, strength, and overall well-being. It focuses on seated and standing poses with the assistance of a chair, which provides stability and support. In chair yoga, you may do poses sitting still, twisting, shifting, or standing with the chair for support

Zumba Gold

 Wednesdays | 11:00 AM

Zumba Gold is a fun and effective low impact workout for all and perfect for anyone with limited mobility, balance challenges, or simply wanting a workout with the support of chair if / when needed. All levels welcome.

Low Intensity: Raise your heartrate, strengthen your muscles and mind, and improve your coordination while enjoying the choreography and music of traditional Zumba, with the option of being seated for extra support.

 Tuesdays | 11:30 AM

A low-moderate intensity exercise class for older adults that combines weight training and body movement exercises to help alleviate the fear of falling. Participants will enjoy staying active to fun music while enhancing their balance, strength, and confidence.

Sit and be fit

 Mondays | 12:00 PM

A low-moderate intensity exercise class designed for older adults, focusing on building strength through seated or standing workouts using bands, weights, and fun music. This class promotes fitness in a joyful atmosphere, ensuring participants stay active and healthy at their own pace.

Health & Wellness

Elevate your fitness journey with our diverse range of in-person classes and programs at the Dell JCC designed to suit all abilities and preferences, such as:

Aqua Aerobics: Dive into a low-impact, high-energy workout in the water.

Gold Zumba: Combine traditional Zumba choreography and music with the option of seated participation for extra support, welcoming all fitness levels.
